Heat arrive in New York off the back of a 100-94 win in Cleveland on Friday, sparked by Justice Winslow who finished with 27 points, 7 rebounds and two assists. Hassan Whiteside and Derrick Jones Jr were also two players who ended up in double figures as the team bounced back to winning ways. If they are to return back home to Miami with a perfect 2 from 2, then coach Erik Spoelstra will be hoping for more of the same from his players.
The Knicks have been in terrible of late, dropping eight straight games as they have spiraled towards the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The team has only won once in the month of January, which was a win over a banged up Los Angeles Lakers. Tim Hardaway Jr leads the team in points per game with 19.4, and five others such as – Emmanuel Mudiay, Enes Kanter, rookie Kevin Knox, Trey Burke and undrafted Allonzo Trier also average double digits on the year.
23-year-old Luke Kornet has also offered some hope but its clear that David Fizdale’s team are in desperate need of a return from injury, that would be Kristaps Porzingis – Porzingis has yet to set foot on the hardwood since suffering a torn ACL back last February.
This will be the second of three meetings between the two teams this season, with the Heat claiming a 110-87 win at the AA Arena back on October 25. Something that you might remember from that game was the Heat’s outstanding 3rd quarter, in which saw them put up 45 points to tied for the third-highest scoring period in franchise history. Whiteside, Josh Richardson and Rodney McGruder all led the way that night, so Heat fans will be hoping they take advantage once again and take Miami back to an even 24-24 record.
